Lambeth and Southbank

I completed the Lambeth and Southbank walk with Macey, Emily L., Hannah, Miles, Sarah, Emily K., Laura, Amy and Sidney. The highlight of the walk was a community playground. We spent a good 20 minutes swinging, sliding and climbing. We went at sunset so the view of the house of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye Were beautiful. There seemed to be a lot going on along Southbank. A family fair was set up through the week and several street performers were out. We also found a large skate park near the Londond Eye. Southbank holds a lot of evening activities for all ages.

Bankside to Southwark

I completed this walk with Amy, Emily, Emily King, Sydney, Kristen and Corey. We walked Sunday night. The view of the Thames was beautiful as the sun set and the tower Bridge was even more incredible lit at night. I enjoyed walking across it. There was also a pub along the way called the Mudlark that was used in the Harry Potter films. We think it is the Leaky Cauldron. I really enjoyed doing this walk at night and seeing the city lights.

Fleet Street and Saint Pauls

I completed this walk after touring Saint Paul’s with the group. We of course, saw Saint Paul's Cathedral. The other memorable site was a pub that was Shakespeare's home. The word Courage was painted on it. I ran it to use the restroom here. I didn't know it was Shakespeare's home until we left. The hallways were narrow and it was interesting architecture because it was built on the corner of the street. We also saw another of Wren's churches. It was beautiful.

Soho to Trafalgar Square (lead this walk)

Sarah, Alison and I completed this walk backwards. We were at Charing Cross after visiting the National Gallery so we worked back. I led this walk. My favorite part of the walk was eating dumplings in China Town. I also enjoyed stopping in a vintage clothing store on the way. They had a great collection. We saw several theaters and what the book described as a deteriorating red light district of London as well. There was even one home with a sign that said "This is not a brothel". Obviously there are some in the area. There were also several questionable stores.

Regent's Park Walk

It was a perfect day for this walk. I went with Corey, Emily King, Sarah J., Sarah Kelsey, Jason, Kara and Amy. We completed this walk after the group tour along the canal. Regent's Park is much larger than I expected. It was fun to see so many people out using the space. Primrose Hill provided a beautiful view of the city. We also passed the Zoo. I was glad to know where it is so I can come back another day. Near Queen Mary's Gardens we saw two brides taking pictures. The scenery was beautiful and a perfect spot for pictures. I also enjoyed seeing the boating pond. That is another place I'd like to return to go out and boat.
